Ever since I was little, music has shaped and molded my life. Whether it is listening to music on the radio or an iPod; going to children’s performances by the Minnesota Orchestra; singing in the Almost Angels children’s choir; or playing the piano and harp, music has been a meaningful and significant part of all 16 years of my life.
Music has power in and of itself that can’t be ignored. It can make you feel happy, sad, joyful, or relaxed.
Lyrics sometimes can be more influential than spoken words; and can be a language that has mysterious, surprising, and considerable power.
When I listen to the music I play, it brings me happiness, wonder, and a feeling of peace. My hope is that when people listen to me play the harp, that they will feel the same way; and that the songs bring a measure of stillness and beauty into their lives.
